Now that it's official, a nation-state is conducting an investigation, and I hope justice will be served.

I wonder what the downstream effects on society will be a few years down the road from public leaders so casually and brazenly committing grift in public and with impunity.

We don’t seem to think that “leading by example” has any merit anymore in this transactional, PvP, dog-eat-dog world; but I suspect the consequences will be disastrous when the fraying of the ethical fabric propagates down, and more people start adopting the “after all, why shouldn’t I / it’s free real estate” mindset at all levels of society.

This new generation of leaders was supposed to be the answer to an erosion of the public trust in public institutions, but they’re eroding it even faster
