If you're a Badgeholder, I urge you to re-evaluate your position. This decision could harm the ecosystem and push developers to either find alternative ways to fund their projects while keeping a protective license (eg. BUSL) or simply leave Superchain for grants where an open source license isn't a requirement πŸ™

Fellow badgeholder here, Optmism code is MIT license, Ethereum is open source and so are many EL/CL client. Building in public was always a challange, cost, time and resource, and the idea behind RPGF was fix this challange. OSS allows you to fork, tweak and enhance, it opens the door to innovation.

You're talking about OSS projects who raised private capital upfront and now are asking their ecosystem to build OSS pro bono upfront with the hope to get rewarded at some point. Do you think that's fair?
