spitballing here, but i think this is due to network maturity & saturation if everything is a replica of something else, then new networks must poach users from existing networks to grow OR must offer niche content to attract a smaller yet highly targeted user base if the former, then the value of the network is not ~more users~, but its ability to retain & defend its ~current users~ if the latter, then the value of the network becomes the differentiated content, which is inherently appealing to a smaller number of users & thus user growth does not necessarily equate to network value

Appreciate the thoughtful response! These are based on existing network based combat techniques, which assume network switching is high friction. But what if it were suddenly 0 friction? Or even negative when considering incentives and additional data sources. This is a major advance in network warfare, akin to how mass produced breach loading rifles obviated centuries of weapons training. https://warpcast.com/web3pm/0x27088dea

Counter-argument: how much friction is there switching from ethereum to solana ?

How mature are these ecosystems from an application POV? I just listened to a former colleague’s pitch yesterday for creating an SVM with ETH or any L1 as a settlement layer, abstracting the tech for application developers

Immature. My comment is more about the incentives for them to find lock-in mechanisms (they're high). There's no financial reason today for ETH to play nice with SOL and like it or not, these chains aren't as decentralized as we like to think. If someone tries to build an SVM, I don't see why established protocols would support it. If they do, and they start losing share, I’d fully expect them to change their tune just like web2 social did with open API.
