Gas is what is paid as fees for transactions in each block. The less space there is in a block, the more expensive gas can be. So as more people use Base, if the gas target stays low, prices will go up. But if we increase the gas target, we create more space for gas which keeps gas costs low.

Can you please explain this to me in a way that I can understand? I'm not familiar with what setting a gas target for GWEI or whatever does to reduce Base fees.
