Does any device or open source project like this exist? - Creates a close range wireless network - With a separate WiFi stack, joins another network and shares internet access - Provides VPM, PiHole, etc.-like services on top Use case is using devices together on a physical private network, on public WiFi.

This is a pocket router. There are some prebuilt or you can build your own with a raspberry pi.

Links? Just to clarify, if I run the router software on the Pi, and run the same software on another Pi, they will link and share internet packets? I have seen a lot of stuff with mesh networks, especially with Meshtastic, but I assumed that was for text messages really.

Thanks for that! Exactly what I was looking for. I ended up picking this one up for now, but it certainly leaves a lot to be desired from a form factor standpoint: https://a.co/d/8sl33OU
