Wait so is the theory saying that it’s turtles all the way down? If desires are copying other ppls desires then eventually at some point there has to have been a source of those desires. Some internal desire. Which means that internal desires can exist and so it’s always possible to have new ones.

I think the answer might be different depending on the desire. Like, I desire food because I’m hungry or it tastes good to me. But I might desire certain clothes because I’ve seen people look good wearing them.

Desires are both internal and external. Just like motivations are intrinsic and extrinsic. Desires manifest from these motivations.
