gm ๐Ÿšพ this morning after you wake up i would like you to ask yourselves: do your desires come from inside of you or dictated by the people in your environment? do you have any true internal desires that didn't come from the outside? what are these desires? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimetic_theory

Wait so is the theory saying that itโ€™s turtles all the way down? If desires are copying other ppls desires then eventually at some point there has to have been a source of those desires. Some internal desire. Which means that internal desires can exist and so itโ€™s always possible to have new ones.

I think the answer might be different depending on the desire. Like, I desire food because Iโ€™m hungry or it tastes good to me. But I might desire certain clothes because Iโ€™ve seen people look good wearing them.

Have you read "Wanting" by Luke Burgis yet? It was probably the most important thing I read last year (my intro to Mimetic Theory)

Desires are both internal and external. Just like motivations are intrinsic and extrinsic. Desires manifest from these motivations.

It all originates in the gut microbiome, consciousness is just the froth on the subliminal mind.
