i like how durov in the interview repeats that people are smart and that's why they switch to telegram for privacy when in fact it is the polar opposite: people are stupid enough to believe that the only popular messenger without e2ee is somehow "private" your tg messages are stored on the servers in plain text

Couldn't agree more... it's crazy that so many people I talk to in crypto think Telegram is private & encrypted They launched with E2E encryption but ended up rolling it back for product functionality. Even FB Messenger is E2EE now and I think they are pretty close to parity with TG I would get it if TG was only missing E2EE for things like channels or “topics” (their community feature) But the reality is that they are way behind the tech. TG “secret chats” don’t even support group chats, web, or desktop
