“It will be illegal for California public schools to suspend students for disrupting class or defying teachers—known as willful defiance suspensions—starting July 1, 2024.” what do parents think? cbsnews.com/amp/sanfrancisco/news/california-law-will-make-student-suspensions-for-willful-defiance-illegal/

a lot of countries prohibit these suspensions (very progressive countries with a very high ratings of schoolkids' intelligence) it's a good move given that parents must teach kids to respect teachers, not government

how is this incentivizing parents to teach their kids to respect teachers? in fact, it will incentivizes good parents with well-behaved kids (and sufficient resources) to move their kids to a classroom or school with better behaved students and better rules (eg private school). net negative for under resourced kids.

that's what i'm saying (probably didn't make myself clear, sorry) as a single measure this is bad, it must be a part of a complex education reform
