According to this morning's Tokyo Shinbun newspaper, 1 in 4 Japanese are over 65. Today is a national holiday in Japan - respect for the Aged Day. My guess is that 80% of those exercising in the park at 6 am were at least sixty. I'm pleased I did my 3.5 km as a slow jog with some calisthenics along the way.

Got my facts mixed up early morning...it's 29.4% who are 65 or over and of those, 1 in 4 are still working. 65+ are projected to be 34.8% of total pop by 2040. Yes, wild times ahead here, for sure. https://www.tokyo-np.co.jp/article/354387?rct=national I expect the robots to take charge in Japan before theother ageing societies ;-) And it's a lot cooler (25C this morning) - supposed to be 30C max. It's been a humid 33-34-ish for a while. Hanging on for autumn to come...
