Finished "The Handmaid's Tale". I liked how Ms. Atwood interwove the past and the present with rich details but yet gave the reader space to draw their own conclusions. Next book will be "The Three-Body Problem" - this is a morning train read and will probably take a while to finish. I have other books lined up for reading at home. I like variety.

According to this morning's Tokyo Shinbun newspaper, 1 in 4 Japanese are over 65. Today is a national holiday in Japan - respect for the Aged Day. My guess is that 80% of those exercising in the park at 6 am were at least sixty. I'm pleased I did my 3.5 km as a slow jog with some calisthenics along the way.

Used G's notebooklm site to autogenerate this 7 mins "podcast clip" by uploading my time travel short story, Clocking Time. They (the two podcasting voices) did an impressive job of capturing the story's essence and also uncovered some theme ideas I had not thought of while writing it! https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/marku/episodes/Clocking-Time-e2odv6r

Binary Bots "Rubbish! There's nothing artificial about the way I walk." Alpha and Omega stood beside a charging plate on the workshop wall. Their half hour break was about to end. "Correct," said Omega, "but it's how you talk that does not compute."

Longest intermittent fast for a year or so. Got up at 5, 41 hours in, and slow jogged in wet grass (a weakening Typhoon 10 leaving Tokyo in peace today, I think.) Breaking fast now at 44 hour mark with some natto mixed with a dollop of Kewpie mayonnaise.

Dreams, performed by "Rumours of Fleetwood Mac" (Cover band). I wish they'd tour Japan too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaBneY-0joA

Hey, don't criticize disorganized. But where was Alexander O'Neil when I needed him most? Too busy shooting music vids with supermodels, I guess. And who can blame him... Meanwhile, I've papers piled here in a corner on the floor and others spread across half my desk. It's a mosh pit of mush no shredder can touch and no mind like water will ever walk upon. Long live delayers of tasks too tedious to mention.

a new day, a new mountain to clamber around, up, over. another one awaits on the other side. (Hobo Techo diary. 11 Aug was Mountain Day, which fell on a Sunday. Monday 12 Aug is a substitution day off.)

Visited family during Belfast Whiskey Week and got an invite to a fun tasting session. The distillery's on the site of an iconic landmark. Hint: a James Cameron movie.

After finishing 'Holes', I'm now reading 'The Silence of the Lambs'. I know the basic story (saw the movie on a plane, I think). Interested in how Thomas Harris put this story together.
