zora is best onchain ux i’ve ever seen for complete beginners w no onchain experience - it has embedded wallet, fund w fiat for mints, photos only so not guessing, insta like explore tab, mobile app is ready

rodeo feels primed for current onchain user base and ppl on fc today, super simple ux to mint multiple types of media on base, seems there are more fc friends on there posting so potentially tapping the social graph better at least to start

incredibly bullish on both, will be interesting to see if either add customization for ppl who have been in the space for a while - edition sizes, price, etc

I guess imo, it feels a bit like we’re segregating the same minting style across multiple platforms, which feels a bit counter intuitive for decentralized onchain activity. 

The argument being, I guess, that the minting of all can occur via fc, so it doesn’t matter the platform the mint originates at. 

It also feels like the price point is a step back for true creator monetization, shifting from actual “stock” to “penny stock” style

How do you think it impacts the valuation of art?

Yeah I think from a UI perspective that makes sense, but your point “in the future… can capture the full value of their work” I think perhaps indicates that you see the current value as not being full, which is what I’m getting at with the devaluation of art. 

I think actually what we’re seeing is the proper monetization of media, at the cost of the full value of monetizing art. This is what we saw with the Instagram model, where everything became effectively free for consumers at the cost of the creator. 

So I guess I see a greater distinction being made between media and art, with a confusion leading to decreased valuation of art. 

Something I’ve been pondering in general, given how it can often cost me $1000s to make a specific piece of art, with the current system enabling monetization in the 10s of dollars. 

Not saying rodeo or zora are wrong to do this model, just purely that I’m finding it confusing from an artist vs creator perspective

great points, i think they’re balancing trade offs rn w trying to make it simple enough, while also keeping creators being able to earn front and center

here’s how i see it: how the apps are setup today are for everyone to participate in creating and collecting onchain art, a win imo to bring about understanding and demand. in the future, i believe there will need to be a place where ppl can distribute and capture the full value of their work

we’re in an interesting spot where art is being put across multiple chains too, yet i gotta believe on the superchain we can see a future of easy interop among the various chains
