I think the problem is that crypto in general favours mass speculation, which is what draws the new users, but this just leads to hype cycles and not long-term sustainability

If we're serious about building proper economies, there needs to be a way to favour value & authenticity, genuine effort, over rampant speculation. Leave that for the casino side of things.

But the brands and companies that bring in the liquidity, don't care about depth, they're interested in garnering additional attention for their brands, which favours the speculation side of things.

for sure, which is the difficult part. 

though what can help is recognizing that all rules are just guidelines, for the most part, everything can be changed. if you expect no stability, then the ground shifting doesn't become a scary event

I think so too! Time moves fast in this space, and I feel most of us are ready for change. I’m not afraid of change itself.

what scares me is the unfamiliar. Changing rules without informing us or making decisions without involving us makes us feel unimportant and irrelevant. It takes away from the idea of decentralization
