My Twitter got hacked. Got phished on a credible looking email saying my account had been compromised. Panicked, didn't check the originating domain, and raced to change my password on the phishing site. Hacker got my credentials, added 2FA, and am locked out.

Notes: These kind of scams have been going around Farcaster since I joined. Things to watch out for: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. No one is cold reaching out with a promising job offer. No one wants to pay you to promote their project on Farcaster. I know, it sucks. I want job offers and to be paid to shill too. It ain't gonna happen. As a rule, ignore all such messages. If someone is legit and really wants to get in touch, they'll figure out a way to get your attention that doesn't set off a million red flags.

Fake Exchanges

Fake cryptocurrency exchanges are fraudulent platforms created to steal users' funds and personal data.

How to recognize a fake exchange:

🔵If an exchange offers extremely low fees, incredible sign-up bonuses, or guaranteed profits, it may be a sign of fraud.

🔵Reliable exchanges are usually licensed and regulated by financial authorities. Check for information on licenses and regulatory bodies on the exchange's website.

🔵Fraudulent exchanges may post fake positive reviews and high ratings. Check reviews on independent resources and forums.

🔵Trustworthy exchanges provide information about their team, office locations, and company history. The absence of this information can be a warning sign.

🔵Check if the site uses a secure connection (HTTPS), and pay attention to possible errors or inconsistencies in design and functionality.

🔵If an exchange makes it difficult or delays the withdrawal of funds, it may be a sign of fraud. Check user reviews about fund withdrawals.

- Restart Mobile 1x a week (wipes memory, and potential Malware)
- Keep it updated 
- Use a DNS firewall (NextDNS for example) 
- Shut down mobile when traveling in risky areas
