you know how you're a kid, listen to a band bcs they're rebelish or whatever, and then you grow up and have an unhealthy amount of appreciation for them, just bcs they're stand up people. That's Green Day for me. Their biggest "controversy" is... *checks notes, people not agreeing with them on politics. A punk rock band.

Agreed. I was mostly speaking about the fact that there are not that many controversial things or taboo stuff they do (I'd be heartbroken if there was). You just see Billie Joe e.g. handing a guitar to a young fan so that the young fan can come out from the fan pit and play at a Green Day concert. Or how Billie is just joining random people at a karaoke bar and singing a Green Day song. Also: Punk rock band: literate People today: "oh, that's disgusting."
