Jacek's talk, part two: They couldn't talk about the other exciting thing. But what they could say amounted to: >L2s pay network costs with gas fees >L3 is essentially free and needs a new way to earn >then Syndicate and Jacek smiled, noting this will launch on DEGEN L3 in 6-12 months.

You’re talking about another earn layer on top of the L3 ?? Interesting 🤔 As in, not staking or validating but some other reward system?

as bankless puts it, "the business of blockchains is selling blockspace" -- but the L3 blockspace is free. so it needs a new business model to pay for network costs. lol maybe they'll tax casino winnings

hmm but selling blockspace doesn't necessarily have to be tied to the chain itself? I.e., buying an ENS on L1 enables functionality & perks (value) that get distributed to the L2, with incredibly tiny charges back to the L1 I'm down for casino taxing so the creation/other use cases can continue to be free :)

Tbh if it’s a tax on transactions I think that’s the improper way to incentivize growth. Id guess it’s a staking mechanism which is interesting depending on the way it works.
