Future upgrades to Ethereum promise to make staking less and less demanding on processing hardware. I think the endgame is something like a phone (or smaller). As long as it has enough bandwidth the computation will be minor. Something like this, but smaller is definitely possible.

Or they do what SSD manufacturers do and put modern, tiny-ass hardware into a bloated, big-ass case for reasons. Crack open that custom staking router to discover... a Pixel 3 in disguise lol
