gm. my farcaster feed is beginning to resemble twitter, and not in a good way. squabbling, posturing, and misinformation abound, none of it funny, some of it dangerous. i won't help with that. so, instead of unfollowing anyone specifically, i've made the choice to reset my follows and exit most channels. I'll meander my way back to the channels I use and people I cherish over the coming days and weeks. Find me in the arena, as ever. See you soon 🎩🌹

I kinda noticed that too. Was enjoying knocking around Silverback a little but pretty much screwed my algorithm. Unfollowed him and left /politics and it's been much nicer. 0xen may be next on the block but I can't recall if he's posted anything political lately.

politics is a natural subject to talk about; it's hugely important, especially to americans who comprise most of farcaster. we need a safe place to discuss our values, of course. that being said, the last ten years has not been good for political discourse or civil society, especially online, and evidentiary standards don't exist in the era of fire-hose untruth. Reasonable people need a place to talk about complex problem without partisan non-sense, free from rage-baiting trolls. that's probably not /politics channel lol

No lol. Maybe we need a bipartisan channel for moderates instead of ride or die rightists/leftists

you're just parroting a version of "both side are bad" meme. right-aligned and left-aligned are not symmetric and haven't been for a decade. i was sympathetic to that /before/ 2016, but no longer. believe it or not I /am/ moderate, albeit from an era before the overton window shifted so hard to the right.

I gotcha. I tend to lean left but mostly consider myself an independent because I can usually see good on both sides (NOT THIS ELECTION GOOD GOD) but I'm young (27) and have a lot to learn still. My first election was the 2016 election and I voted for Johnson. 2020 and 2024 I'll be voting Democrat because of Trump.

i'm a card carrying independent. i don't consider myself a democrat and i /despise/ team politics over country. winning isn't the point. i'm also a well-informed pragmatist who can tell the difference between good and bad evidence/ sources/ theory. ie, not a rube and not easily tricked. like you, i try to be fair to all viewpoints, valid or not. but the idea that we have two equally capable political parties, each with a silver lining worth highlighting... is slippery rhetoric. they aren't proportional and haven't been for at least a decade. pol pot gardened and trump loves his daughter, after all.

The way I see it, Kamala and her stance on issues is the same as voting independent 12 years ago. I didn't care for Joe but he was the better alternative in 2020 unfortunately. This time I actually believe in the democratic candidate. Don't get me wrong, I still want to see sources cited but I (a gun toting married christian living in the south) think she is what America needs.
