In the before-fore of /degen, there was nothing. Then there were shitcoins and all was well. $points, $wowow, $farts, proud shitcoins all that eventually fizzled and failed. Some weeks later, @jacek committed himself to making something very different.

Enter, $degen airdrop 1: engaging /degen members were rewarded and the first owners of $degen. The magnificent intersection of early crypto social, the forthcoming bull market, and an innovative culture coin was enough. $degen succeeded where all other native 'caster coins failed.

It survived. And flourished.

But a shitcoin needs more than a ticker and holders. It needs culture, soul, community, and vibes for it to grow. And so a group of Farcaster OG's - terrifying, ancient powers - created the Degentlemen: noble degens. Reckless, but not scammy. Greedy, not selfish. Patient and ruthless.

We had a name. We had our coin. We had our realm.

And now we have our 🎩 .

Since then, we've silo'd off into hundreds of warpchats, channels, and other groups to develop, expand, and proliferate $degen.

We have a chance to make a money that is more fairly distributed, fun to play with, and part of the farcaster bootstrap. Welcome to that experiment.

I like new and shiny things and this seems like the right place for it.

It has been crazy, ngl. $degen started a mad rush into farcaster that was amplified by their global, freebie signups. The two produced a super-storm that crushed the network and brought us to today's ever rising stats.

The whole thing is very exciting. It just feels like such a natural fit and it feels like the tech and product understanding is there.
