Channel member migration plan

1. Last week, we previewed the upcoming channel changes

2. We want to ensure that existing channels have a set of members on Day 1

3. We’re proposing automatically converting active followers → members for channels.

4. We’re optimizing for something straightforward and pragmatic, not perfect.

5. We’re looking for feedback on this proposal.

re, the coming channel changes and day one members:

>for channels /with moderation enabled/ any user who was liked by a mod or mod-bot will be auto-migrated to the "new" channel.
>dan is asking for feedback but this sounds workable to me.

what popular channels are /not/ moderated, if any?

I'm glad I am not managing a large channel! 😬
I only have my channel /fercaggiano as a place to cast about my personal things. I never saw channels as subscriptions, and I am not sure how this will go. But I have to believe the changes are for the better.

it's not for the worse, that much i'm certain of. even if many original channels die, this change is still necessary and always was.

i only cast in channels when it's topically appropriate and advantageous to me or the channel. else, i do not cast in channels.

as far as my casting habits go, nothing changes.

hell, i might even cast into channels /more/ now that they're permissioned (and naturally spam free).

I trust your opinion on this. So - as I said - I think this must be for the best.
I only ever used channels to cast as "topics," so it will take some adjusting on my part. I may be channel-less casting for a bit 😆
