Let me guess from my memory...is that the horrible long worm that infests your leg and in order to remove it in one piece, the general behavior is to remove it slowly by winding it around a stick to prevent it from breaking off? There is such a thing in central Africa. I remember reading about it before i traveled to the Ivory Coast.

oh yay! This is a memory from back in 1997 as that is when I traveled there. I read about all the possible diseases in the country beforehand. There were a lot of weird ones but that was the most heinous. 😂 When I was there, it was said to never just dry your washed clothes outside in the sun as flies would lay eggs in your clothes and then the larva could get into your skin, so everyone would put them in the dryer to kill anything.
