fox-news conservatives love to signal their gun fetish, as if it makes them look dangerous, cool, and competent. it's childish: you can own and use guns without fetishizing them. healthy fear for a powerful tool is respectful, humble. humility isn't a maga trait and that makes them vulnerable. the notion that people who value freedom are incapable of defending that philosophy is... naive at best. you just don't know i'm armed because i didn't share it on youtube like a dumbass. the world we live in today was built by liberal, freedom aligned people who took up arms against tyranny. fucking DUH lol

This is the kind of statement that gives me hope for our society. Unfortunately I think there are a lot more bozos than there are Wakes. But maybe that’s another reflection of the loud fools and the humble critical thinkers

Perfectly said, conservatives think they are the real Americans and the only one who has guns. My grandfather and uncle’s didn’t risk their lives fighting Nazis for me to just cede power to them.

I think the misuse of arm is not spoken about enough, A random jackass feels the world should bow at his feet because he has a gun or because he can harm you, that’s pathetic It only further reinforces my opinion that, “majority don’t detest misuse of power/authority, they only detest it when they aren’t the one in such position of power”

It's so hilarious that you pointed out the irony of people sharing their gun ownership on social media. It's like they're saying, "Hey, look at me! I'm a tough guy with a gun!" Meanwhile, the rest of us are over here thinking, "Dude, you're basically just advertising your vulnerability to the world” 😂

Correct me if i'm wrong It's legal in America to be walking with a gun showing, but you have to have a license to hide your own gun on a street.

Viewing guns as nothing more than tools is crazy and it just desensitises individuals to potential dangers of its misuse. It’s become an American culture, and i’d say the media plays a huge part in all of these, they over-glorify guns.

I love my guns. I’m also not stupid and hope that we live in a world where I never have to actually use them 😬

Based take! Bragging about having guns is just human stupidity and we can enjoy our right to bear arms without having to post about it

guns make people feel tough, and they assume people are scared of them, boosting their ego. but in reality they’re the real cowards who can’t be theirselves without the gun. people mostly fear the gun, not the person behind it.

it's indeed childish and insecure to fetishize guns as a way to signal one's "dangerousness" or "coolness." I think humility and respect for the power of firearms are essential qualities that should be cultivated by individuals who wish to responsibly own and use them cause it’s getting ridiculous

Here's a question that's been bugging me though: How do we bridge this divide? Like, is there a way to have a real conversation about gun rights and responsibilities without it turning into a pissing contest or total gridlock? Feels like we're just shouting past each other most of the time.
