"I want to sail westward" actually counts as a clear destination to me (https://www.willminshew.com/2017/10/24/why-write-a-blog/). It's very different than purposelessly wondering through space -- if you find yourself not moving or heading eastward, you know you've done something wrong!
after that, I think it's about understanding what's achievable with the resources you have. I think it's net positive to have a bigger vision as a backdrop, but if you have 0 users the goal shouldn't be to get 1b. Come up with a concrete plan to get 10 [users that love you], and then 100, and then 1000, and then 10000, etc etc.
you should be comfortable holding the bigger backdrop vision loosely / vaguely / abstractly, and then you should be constantly zooming in/out to make sure it all stays coherent (this is universally p challenging, afaict), and when something gets out of whack, course correct
i think this all largely boils down to taking intentional steps 0 reply
