maybe, maybe not? the ai black box might suggests top down...but as bigger institutions continue to lose credibility, trust needs to stem from somewhere else...

does open source ai (eg llama v3) count as top down or bottoms up in your book? is the “black box” the closed source stuff (oai) or the inscrutability of what weights even mean?

open source ai still feels like top down, though perhaps to a lesser extent. the latter.
