I guess I started an accidental AMA on which parts of the crypto space are good and which I'm so far not excited about, along with other big picture vision questions: https://x.com/VitalikButerin/status/1827583576751181961 You should feel free to ask questions here too! Let's see if Farcaster can come up with higher-quality questions than the other app :)

How can we offer decentralized access to content? Http is not good enough any more. Ipfs feels unusable when it comes to normal users (without http gateways). Thoughts?

We need browsers with IPFS integrated. Brave was supposed to be that, but unfortunately its IPFS gateway is quite slow so I never end up using it.

Biased of course but I think it makes sense to use the speed of traditional tech with IPFS via Gateways. Peer to peer networks will never get the speeds necessary to really run the web. Not to mention gateway tech has been getting better and better with implementations like rainbow. Just as Farcaster is advertised as a sufficiently decentralized network, IPFS should be framed in the same light; have a multitude of gateway options running on separate infra and servers vs "truly decentralized" peer to peer tech https://github.com/ipfs/rainbow

Decentralized will always be slow if you only use peer to peer networks imo, and there's not really a reason to put users through that. Just marry the two: fast web2 gateways with a web3 protocol. That's what we've done all along ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
