During the last year, I invited so many people to join Farcaster. Only few accepted the invite, even though I'd paid for some too. I plugged Farcaster on Facebook, on Twitter, IRL, and only a handful of people took the time to even take a look. Most of them will probably join in the next year or so.

Which brings us to the value of your early users. Users like me, sometimes annoying, sometimes too demanding, sometimes too self-centered. But they are the ones that invested their time in your product, maybe even identified with your vision. Treat them well. They are valuable.

A social network has a built-in incentive: Join early, collect social capital when it's cheap. If you can build incentives in your product, great. But usually reaching out, recognizing their importance and making them feel part of the project is enough.

Itā€™s a good flywheel - users improve their own social graph & interactions while being ā€œearly.ā€ Reminds me of Spotifyā€™s algos and how they ā€œfeel betterā€ for power users.
