I don't understand what this means. 1. Is it a bad idea because it will ruin your product for some reason? 2. Is it a bad idea because users will be driven away if they are given the option to choose an algo? 3. Is it just a clickbait to state that most users will not care about this option even if you offer it, and you have to consider if it's worth the cost to satisfy this very small percentage that will get value out of it?

Also what is an "algorithm" in this context? The actual code? The parameters? Because users know very well these days that there are ways to change the parameters of your personal algorithmic feed. I've often heard from normies "I likes a few posts about XXXX and now I keep getting XXXX content, I'm trying not to interact to stop it". And we all know "curating our follows" has an impact on what we see even in algo feeds.
