Animated PFP's are going away on Warpcast ๐ This was a much loved feature, but caused crashes and performance issues for many Android users. There was no easy fix. If you have an animated pfp, we'll show it as a static image going forward.

I noticed yesterday that Warpcast Desktop (macOS) was consuming too many system resources. A process called "Warpcast Graphics and Media". Is this it?

I believe itโs related to the lifecycle of a PFP, it needs to be globally available on the app, so it sits in memory. Afaik, gifs are not easily compressible like images, so you might need to serve the often unnecessarily huge stuff people upload.
