Just had an idea: I’m an art collector that mostly shares the art I collected of others. People tip me for these casts. I’d now be happy to automatically share a portion of these tips with the artists mentioned, kind of like automatic royalties in $DEGEN for the original art mentioned in the cast. 🤔

Could be useful for other scenarios as well, like if I quote-cast something and want the original poster to benefit from tips on my recast as well. People could tip $rDegen (royalty-enforced $degen) or I could @-mention the original poster with a specific command (like !co) 🤔

Quick sketch on how I imagine it could work:

We have a settings page on degen.tips where we opt-in to give royalties from the tips we receive, range 5%-100%

The original poster adds a command like “!co” followed by the @{name} of the royalty receiver.

Or we introduce $rDegen and defer to the degen tipper

Yeah, but paybot takes the degen from your holdings not the tips you receive, right? I could imagine the functionality to be native for $degen 😅

Love this idea Tim. I often find when I quote cast or cast someone else's work, they should also be benefiting form any potential tips.

Yeah, the idea is to split the tipping on an opt-in basis. It doesn't always make sense, but often makes a lot of sense. And it would need to be on a voluntary basis, also the percentage you want to share with the artist or original caster. Sharing is caring in the creator economy.

10000%!! I feel ‘guilty’ to a certain degree, because I feel like I’m benefiting off of them (though that’s not my intention at all. Purely showing my collection and mentioning the artists). 

On the other hand, I also don’t mind tipping friends who share others work simply because they’re beautiful art

Still, I can’t get rid of that strange feeling to get tipped for presenting the work I collected without sharing a portion with the artists. Sure there are other ways to get this balanced. Just thought it’d be a good idea to have this implemented somehow

This could really work, great idea. However I’m sure most artists are also happy just for the love you’re showing them by sharing their work.
