Podcast episodes are kind of the new longform writing, for better or worse

When people have important ideas they want to communicate in depth - they go on a podcast to share them, they don’t write an essay or blog post

Or maybe they use the podcast as marketing for the written piece - but most people end up just consuming the podcast and not reading the work

Idk I think both are important. I consume them 50/50, with podcasts usually being marketing for long form

Yea I’m not commenting on relative importance or legitimacy but I do think the collective relative share of consumption and production of ideas has shifted in favor of podcasts

yeah. Probably a good thing, long form is the best way to absorb deeper topics I think
