This would be really cool. I don’t see why this wouldn’t work if structured properly? Vertical integration for Netflix and the ability to offer rewards if you donate x amount each year towards funding new seasons of projects. There would need to be a SPAC-like function where the new season needs to enter production within 18-24 months of funding

Because Kickstarter and Patreon already exist. When the auteur and producer of a film go through the grueling process of securing funding on their own and they have a finished film/series in hand that's when studios or distribution companies like Netflix become interested. 33,138 Successfully funded Film & Video projects on KS to date: https://www.kickstarter.com/help/stats
