Netbox is building this. Some companies, like Angel Studios, are doing this: https://www.thedavidmovie.com/

Because Kickstarter and Patreon already exist. When the auteur and producer of a film go through the grueling process of securing funding on their own and they have a finished film/series in hand that's when studios or distribution companies like Netflix become interested. 33,138 Successfully funded Film & Video projects on KS to date: https://www.kickstarter.com/help/stats

This would be really cool. I don’t see why this wouldn’t work if structured properly? Vertical integration for Netflix and the ability to offer rewards if you donate x amount each year towards funding new seasons of projects. There would need to be a SPAC-like function where the new season needs to enter production within 18-24 months of funding

Imagine raising 50 mill and it sucks. Imagine that happening more often than not. Imagine your hard earned money from giving your time producing sour fruit. Also I’m stupid

Interesting thought! It really hinges on execution and context. For it to work, you'd need clear alignment on goals, reliable infrastructure, and adaptability to unforeseen challenges. Otherwise, it could fall short of expectations. It's a high-risk, high-reward scenario worth deeper analysis.

The idea has potential but requires careful consideration of scalability and logistical issues. Centralizing information could streamline processes, yet it risks becoming a single point of failure. Balancing efficiency with robustness and security will be crucial for successful implementation.

Love it! What about a views referral for each person, see which fam brings in the most watched minutes. A leaderboard for watched minutes.
