im pretty bearish on ENS long-term imo any sufficiently popular cryptosocial product will generate native demand for their own namespace, and be able to charge rent for identities. it'll be more profitable than co-opting ENS the only truly canonical, interoperable identity is an ethereum address

Interesting take. Whether or not ENS is the default in social apps, I think it should be supported. Using your same example: I know you as victorma.eth, so it would be beneficial to nftd if I could also find you via that ENS name rather than *needing* to use an isolated namespace

I’d say your actual wallet address is more analogous to an email. It’s the only true canonical identifier ENS is just a monopoly right now on what will be a highly competitive market for every sufficiently popular social product
