did the drummer add all the tape? a few things to talk to the drummer about, if they're open to advice...i would replace the heads with coated Evans/Remo heads. totally worth the investment for any kit. also o-rings help a lot too..the tape is acting like an o-ring essentially but isn't as effective imo and looks terrible. but then again its all an experiment, and the last few years people have been getting really creative with different types of techniques for effecting live recording so idk. just a random thought, goodluck out there!

Yes, the drums were delivered like this and also set up too. I just put a rug under it and mic’ed it up. They’re a church band, so I’mm not exactly sure how much “advice” they would take from the venue sound guy, buuut we shall see.. I also totally agree with you on your sentiment about the o-rings lmaooo. The two guitarists were arguing super heated-ly and I was like… that’s not very Church of you guys…
