At the advent of the age of AI there cannot be a stupider take than this. We’re entering the age of the idea guys. I’m familiar with desi culture and that is NOT the model you want to adopt. And 100x not the one you want to adopt in an era where you want original thinking. They don’t celebrate engineers they celebrate salaries. It’s the motivation behind the culture that is dumb and why it would never work in the US and shouldn’t. There are positives to be sure but my god do I disagree with this take. https://x.com/vivekgramaswamy/status/1872312139945234507?s=46

hat do you disagree with exactly? isn't he just saying the media and culture in America is focused on different things...for example social popularity is more valuable then your academic achievements in high school and college. therefore the youth doesn't focus on academic achievement and excellence? the kids end up being incentivized to be social media influencers. other countries seem to prioritize STEM activities. non-American families are likely to limit leisure activities like tv, video games, phone time, etc. and the American family is generally less likely to limit those things, at least in my experience. in simple terms, if we don't start focusing more on academics, and less on popularity contests....we stand the risk of falling behind in the competitive global markets. no?

He’s glorifying Indian subcontinent culture as an example of doing the above and it’s just a very flawed view. Also I’d argue intelligence and academic success is viewed more favourably now then when we invented the Nuclear bomb and landed on the moon so maybe intelligence and output shouldn’t be measured so two dimensionally. (The anger is towards his statement not you.)
