This is also part of a phenomenon where corporate advertising will use things that would be inappropriate to say fully-expanded, but are okay in short-hand / referential terms. i.e., I don't think Splunk would actually say "shit out of luck" on an ad, but they're comfortable using "SOL".

I think the idea is that it's a kind of alliteration, it makes "SOL" sound like "yet another one of those enterprisey terms"
