An info-defense tech that I'd really like to see is configurable syntax highlighting for natural language text on the internet

I think that at least the ai policy section might be worth cross posting to less wrong. There's been lots of discussion about policy and economics regarding agi there lately (I know there is all the time, but moreso than usual)

Now that one “edge” of this “cube” has a label – curious if there are other subject area “cross-dependencies” worth mentioning that you haven't covered yet? https://warpcast.com/darrylyeo/0x819e133f

'Instead of asking each juror a global question ("what is the value of project A to humanity?"), we ask a local question ("is project A or project B more valuable to outcome C? And by how much?")' I have a stupid-ish anecdote here. Few years ago I wanted to buy new sneakers. Because I generally don't like owning too many things, I really wanted to make a good choice. So I have gone through 1,000+ sneakers online and bookmarked the ones I like. There were about 20 pairs. But how to pick the best pair? It felt impossible. So my friend told me - do a contest, like in the World Cup playoffs. Just compare sneakers A with sneakers B, C with D and so on. And then hold 1/8 finals, 1/4 finals, semifinals and finals. It took like 10 minutes and made the potentially super hard decision super easy.

We may be able to protect our systems and extend our lifespans, but will humanity ever stop believing in comforting falsehoods? I think info-defence is what we should focus on, if we still have hope.

another way to slow down the impact of asi without slowing down technological progress is to enforce regulation such that you cant work on the next model without getting your current model to run on consumer devices - question : for this or any regulation based ideas, how do you get coordination across jurisdictions?

I see how blockchains are being used for cyber and info defense today but I think that integration of blockchain technology with bio and macro defense is lagging behind significantly. But I think these two spaces can potentially benefit a lot from it. As for the decentralized AI part, what do you mean by "insufficient attention on the defensive aspect"? Let's say I have an idea of using robots built in a decentralized way for defence in a way that guns are used in the US. Clearly, with modern military technology guns don't pose a threat to centralized actors that may want to infringe on personal liberties. But decentralized robots owned by individuals may be a way of defense against centralized entities that may have their own robot armies which is not a distant future in my opinion.
