A thing I posted on the no-longer-bird app a few years ago. I feel like I keep encountering this phenomenon to this day:

The example that motivated making this originally was the bitcoin block size debate.

More recently, arguments against RPGF of the form "but if all funding is retroactive, then...", when in reality RPGF advocates are just trying to increase the amount of retroactive funding from 0% to like 1%.

It's not really an ideological debate, but it does have that "not appreciating concavity" flavor to it.
