Compiling Wilfred work (early 1900s) "with light as his primary artistic medium, developing the means to control and project unique compositions of colorful, undulating light forms, which he referred to collectively as lumia."

Light is an absolutely fascinating medium. Need to look into this artist's work, early 1900s is REALLY EARLY.
A modern master of light that constantly impresses me is Ólafur Elíasson, just yesterday saw a feature of the church windows his studio designed for the Dom St. Nikolai in Greifswald (image is a design)

He created a mechanical light organ named Clavilux.

There was other light/color organs at the time relating colors to sound frequencies. But this one was only visual abstract light shapes :)
He performed with in it in venues.
