Really debated commenting on this due to my current title haha. But I agree with the premise that it's a lot harder now compared to what I saw folks doing early in my career. One more point I'd add to the list that "No need to get into implementation" doesn't hold true as much. ...

.. I have personally benefitted a lot from picking tasks on non-critical path and understanding the complexity involved in day-to-day development.
