I finished reading The Road this evening. I couldn’t stop once I had started. It laid bare the final form of human depravity. It was so crushingly bleak. And it was deeply moving.

I tried to find great books on the relationships between fathers and sons and this was one of the only ones that came up. Haven't pulled the trigger on it yet because idk how sad I want to be. Any advice? Do you have kids?

I don't, but the father<>son relationship is a core theme in the book. It's incredibly sad and bleak, but also inspirational. It strips the purpose of life down to the core of fatherhood – take care of your children above all else and prepare them to stand against the harshness of the world after you are gone.
