You shouldn't write a 50,000-word screenplay. But you can write one between 7,500 and 20,000 words, which is the average length for a screenplay. Just found that on google. Doesn't seem right to me, but there we go.

This metric seems bizarre. I haven't come across word limit prescriptions for a screenplay. I have heard of page limits but this is just new.

page a minute is the metric I always go by. I need to check my screenplays but I don't think any of the feature length ones I've written are as low as 7500 words. Current one is 17k and 102 pages.
