Haikou is a city district on Hainan Island, the seat of the authorities of the province of the same name in China. It is located in the north of the island, opposite the Leizhou Peninsula, from which it is separated by the 15-kilometer-long Hainan Strait. Haikou Meilan International Airport is located in the city district.
