Surat is a city in western India, in the state of Gujarat. Surat is also known as the city of flowers. It is the administrative center of Surat district. The city is located 306 km south of the state capital Gandhinagar, on the left bank of the river Tapti. The city center is located 22 km from the mouth of the river.
