I thinking I’m giving up on Termination Shock. Neal Stephenson books are such pure grinds.

I got through cryptonomicon and diamond age, gave up on snowcrash, didn’t try anything else. I like the futurism and worldbuilding and random nerdy excursions, but the actual plots and characters make me want to tear my hair out.

similar experience with The Baroque Cycle series here. The exception is REAMDE, which I couldn't put down at all
