It feels extremely unfair to tell anybody from “flyover” states to be gracious now after 100 years of progressive rule but I think it’s much better for this to be true in a Caesarian way. The Optimates vs the Populares has to die. The US desperately needs a renewed national unity that’s not predicated on opposition but on a new frontier

How are you interpreting what I’m saying as a call for gracious behavior from flyover types?

In terms of the binary you gave, having the same reaction to both based and woke means a truce, no calls for retribution from either side, moving on, etc. This means either: Both sides have been equally mistreated, or the side that’s been mistreated more would have to be gracious and not call for retribution. Unless you’re interpreting these as much more narrow niches than I am

Yeah that’s not what I was suggesting. I just think any use of either term in 2025 makes you a bad faith actor. Not someone looking for a just resolution to real conflict. It’s dirty fighting for its own sake rather than principled fighting for a cause you believe to be just. I’m fine with clean fighting continuing to a meaningful conclusion and a judgment of history on the outcome. Grace in victory or defeat is an unrelated matter as far as I’m concerned.
