Good protocols expose more agency and hide non-agentic complexity, bad ones expose the complexities with no increase in agency.

My original question was: When did soap stop being a technology? 

My new question is: When did being clean become a protocol?

No that would make impulse shopping and binge consumption protocols

is a protocol anything that enables immediate action without second order thinking?
