Microplastics are plastic particles smaller than 5 mm in size that enter our bodies through air, water, and food. Previously, scientists have found them in the lungs, placenta, liver, and other organs. A new study has found that the brain may be one of the organs most contaminated with microplastics. In addition, in another study, scientists found microplastics in bone marrow, joints, and even sperm, which further increases concerns. This alarming situation requires urgent international action to reduce plastic production and prevent further contamination of the environment and our bodies. 8 replies
