The Fantom project has undergone a rebranding and changed its name.

The team behind the blockchain platform for creating decentralized applications, Fantom, has carried out a rebranding and introduced a new name for the project — Sonic Labs.

These changes were made in anticipation of the launch of a new product — an EVM Layer 1 solution called Sonic.

The rebranding affects all aspects of the project's operations. Along with the launch of the Sonic blockchain, the developers plan to establish a specialized organization.

"Sonic Foundation will be responsible for network governance and financial oversight, while Sonic Labs will focus on growing the number of dApps, users, and handling partnerships," said Michael Kong, CEO of Fantom Foundation.
