| Per-cast fees are a really bad user experience haven’t thought through this deeply, but couldn’t you just mentally model the current Storage implementation as a “preloaded balance” for casts?

You can buy one unit of storage and generally cast as much as you like for a year. You don’t have to worry until the next year

couldn’t you do the same thing with a network running on an L2/L3? Preload a wallet with $5-$10 worth of casts and each cast is deducted from that balance

Paying per cast is stressful psychologically. It’s why subscriptions almost always beat micropayments.

yeah I agree, that’s why I’m saying if you had some sort of “balance” that you preloaded instead of paying per cast it would be the same thing in the end, but would cause less stress in the moment same as any prepaid point system (starbucks, etc.)
