Reflecting on my first v2 frame, the biggest advantage of building a frame is getting distribution amongst a small group of cryptonative early adopters. Biggest disadvantage is that the total reach is limited at the moment. It would be hard to imagine getting meaningful user #s from just the Farcaster ecosystem alone.

What reach did you get and how much more would it need to be to convince you to keep building ?

IIRC ~4k users, ~1.5k DAU. Ideally it’s at least a 10x of that. Fantastic for initial feedback and testing, and I’m not sure if I can get that anywhere else without hitting a viral tweet or top 5 on HN. The challenge is that it seems to cap at that figure at the moment. Looking at the DAUs for other popular Farcaster native apps, 2k DAU seems to be standard.

Would you consider a lower DAU if onchain revenue was higher? IIRC you charged USDC for some stuff.

I did! Charged $0.25 and got a 2% conversion rate. But it hasn’t been my experience here that ARPU is any higher. My gut intuition is that the native wallet (which tends to have less value for obvious op sec reasons) lends itself more to higher value microtransactions — which is ideal with higher DAUs.
