"Unlike the pronatalists, who want to solve depopulation problems by bringing in entire new demographic cohorts of people, who are likely to have radically different values from us, on a mass scale, I'd rather we preserve our culture and focus on keeping alive and healthy the people we already have."

So this is an ironic twist on the stock anti-immigrant argument to make a life-extension argument instead. Do you actually believe it though? Ofc living longer is good, but are you opposed to natalism & having more kids?

I consider myself a convex-natalist; I want to see a world where people feel no shame in having 0 children, but also where more people have 5+ (and society+tech is improved to make that choice more feasible for more people)

That would be a wonderful world. I see having children as a form of experience that you can get after being tired of your usual routine. The main problem with people who have no children is demography crisis. If there's enough people with 5+ children, that might be enough to cover these who don't have them.
